Profiler: Crabapple Kitchen

Driving down Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn you pass a number of cafes and restaurants who are carbon copies of their sibling sites around Melbourne, catering to the myriad of university students who go to Swinburne University and travel via the train station.

Crabapple Kitchen is unique. In more ways than one. The provincial striped awnings, the beautiful burnt orange Lacanche oven that’s a fixture of the front bar area and the terrace out the back which is the perfect spot to soak up the afternoon sun. There is a warmth that envelopes you when you arrive, whether it’s from the mouthwatering food coming from the bustling kitchen or the super friendly staff who effervescently greet patrons and passersby with a welcoming smile. Stephanie Edgerton, the General Manager of Crabapple Kitchen and her team offer the true hospitality experience that keeps their loyal customers coming back.

Owner Greg Feck is a seasoned chef with a love for travel and good food. Feck founded the eatery back in mid-2012 with the intent of using Victorian produce of the highest quality to create a menu influenced by his worldwide adventures. (Broadsheet)

It has so many great features which make for speedy and reliable service such as multiple split-bill options, easy table and item transfers and combo upgrades.”

On entering the Crabapple you are prompted by baristas busily working by the coffee machine and diligently attending to dockets on a Coffee Prep Screen affixed from the ceiling. This feature “allows our Baristas to work hands-free off electronic dockets and monitors the time it takes to make each check precisely and also doubles as a great management tool”.
