The Banks on Collins. Melbourne VIC
Our friends at Fathers Office, Shaw Davey Slum and Asian Beer Café have opened another site in the Melbourne City Business District- The Bank on Collins. Quite Literally. They have opened inside the old ‘Bank of Australasia’ and one of the few buildings which survived the complete overhaul of Collins Street in the 1950s. This 5 story building played an integral part in Melbourne’s economy during the Gold Rush and the great depression, making this space a true Melbourne icon. Perfect location for a Christmas get together or company end of year drinks. On the mezzanine floor, the old bank vaults have been converted into private dining spaces. Get lost in a beautifully designed Melbourne icon.
The Boroughs of New York, Brisbane QLD
This is the second site for the crew at Boroughs of New York. Their first site was in Westfield Carindale and now they are on the brink of opening up in the Valley of Brisbane, otherwise known as Fortitude Valley. For those of you who don’t know the concept was born when Jay and Anu moved to Brisbane a few years back and the only thing them missed about their beloved New York was the Pizza. So, as a tribute to their previous home city, they decided to open a pizzeria in their new home city of Brisbane. Providing all the New York essentials including 18” pizzas, Brooklyn Chilli Cheese Dogs and New York Bagels. Now we can all get our fix from the other side of the Atlantic.
Belle’s Hot Chicken, Barangaroo NSW
A Melbourne favorite has landed in Sydney. From their humble beginnings on Gertrude Street, Fitzroy they have expanded their Fried Chicken Empire to Wulugul Pop Up at Barangaroo. The Wulugul Pop-Up is a temporary space for casual outdoor dining that will run until August 2016. For those who are still trying to conceptualize where that is: Wulugul Pop Up, Wulugul Walk, is just north of the northern end of King St Wharf, alongside the water in front of Tower Three. Belles will be based here for nine months while owner and head chef Morgan McGlone scouts a permanent site in Sydney. Something to note they are offering The Baller Bucket – 16 of their signature wings, four sides plus three sauces. Perfect way to soak up the outdoor sun with the summer months JUST around the courner.
